| Self-pay surprises?
I'm going to be self-pay, and am wondering what kind of "extras" to expect. I've been quoted $15k by True Results, which includes after-care of 10 fills or 2 years (whichever happens first). I know I have to pay fo rmy pre-op tests and stuff, but I'm concerned that there may be other expenses.
Also, how likely is it that I will need more than 10 fills?
Thanks,
Marianne

Marianne | Hey Marianne
I am a self pay and here is what I had to do..First off mine was 14,000 and that covered the hopsital, Drs appts, Drs fee, and free fills for 1 year. I am not sure what will happen if you need more then 10 fills but if your band only holds 10 ccs like mine, then you should stop at 10 cc..But I don't think that it would go that far for you cause my Dr told me that once you get your restrictions and are full longer and losing the weight or at your "goal" you want to call it, then you don't need anymore fills. Plus over the years or down the line you will get "unfilled" if you need it..Now after my year is up then it's $100.00 per fill with-out the x-ray machine and $200.00 with the x-ray machine..So every place is different..Now as far as your blood work and things, Mine was all covered in that price. So you should find out if yours is covered in that 15k. I did and mine was. So I didn't have to pay for my labs. I hope this helps you and feel free to ask question to your Dr or nurse before you do anything. Make them tell you and tell them that you want to know cause you are paying out of pocket and you want to know where your money is going..I did and I got all my answers...Hope this helps and good luck!!
Kristy

Marianne | I also went thru True Resluts as self pay BUT my insurance did cover every test needed - just not the surgery. I would check into that & Yes - you just might need 10 fills - I've had 7 so far.
That 15k coveres what you stated & I've not had one "Hidden Cost" to date.
Good Luck!!

City: New Orleans State: Louisiana | Morning, I'm a self pay like you all and everything, including post op test, was included in my $10,000. Sounds like I may have gotten a deal down here in Louisiana on the price of the surgery. My doctor, Dr. David Treen, is simply wonderful. They have a great after surgery program as well. That is something to really look at when deciding where to have the surgery. We all need good support after the surgery. Good luck and let us know how things are going for us. I went through 6 months of pure hell doing what my ins company said I had to do to quilify. At the end, they turned me down. I appealed and got turned down again. Abby |

I am also self pay and have my first appointment on Tuesday (5/6). I am using Dr. Kim at TLC Edge. My self pay price is $9,990, but that does not include the psychological evaluation and the pre opp liquid diet. As I understand it, everything else should be covered.
If you are in the Dallas area, you might check them out!

I was self pay and everything totaled $7000. That's the cardio/phych/surgicenter/band - everything. That also included the meds for post op.
I've had 2 fills at $400 and then 2 unfills at $400.
So, everything included (not counting the new wardrobe) was about $8000.
But ask for full disclosure of all fees associated...they will tell you.

Thanks, everyone, for all of the replies. I really need to get this done, but the money part just scares me! Now I've got to figure out how much I can afford to pay each month so that I can pick my loan.
