Denied insurance AFTER LAP-BAND®

Has anyone had the same issue that I am having right now? I had BC/BS through COBRA and was approved for LAP-BAND® immediately, had the surgery, am doing fine... but now my COBRA is expiring and I cannot get anyone to insure me because I have had the surgery!!!! Even BC/BS, who paid for the surgery in the first place through a group plan, is turning me down for individual insurance!

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

I had cobra at the time of banding but was self pay. When I was going to stop Cobra I talked to BCBS to get individual, no can do. The surgery is considered a pre-existing condition. I was told by them and 3 other insurances that I would have to wait 1 yr, to get insurance unless through a job. If you have any luck please let me know.
