Bcbs Ppo

I am not sure which BCBS I have other than a PPO... How can I tell? I have it through my work. I know it's not the federal.:help:

I am going to answer myself! I have Bluelink. The reason I had no clue is because my work recently switched too it. I don't see any threads about it currently. However, I have the cash for the surgery but would much rather have insurance pay for it. Has anyone had any luck with Bluelink BCBS? If so how did you go about getting it preapproved. I want to move on this asap.

Brandy, Blue Cross organizations vary from state to state. What state is the company you work for based in?

A few months ago my company like I said switched to BCBS. Not thinking about it I didn't even call to ask if they covered it because I was already denied from my last insurance.... I called today and without even having to plead my case the lady said no that is all covered!!!!

So I scheduled my seminar for 10/25. Here I had 10k set aside for pay for it....... Now I have 10k to figure out what to use it on :D

Brandy - here's what I understand about BCBS in general -- but yes, it does vary by program. To qualify for BCBS to cover it you must have:

1. A BMI of 40 or over.
2. Documentation of over 40 BMI for the past 5 years
3. 6-month doc supervised diet where you visit the doc at least every month, and they will ask for doc notes to prove this.

If you're BMI is between 35-40, respond here and I'll give you those details.

Well my BMI is over 40. I have done as the doctor recommended 2 years ago and have been to a nutritionist for 6 months in a row.

You should be all set. Just CALL CIGNA every other day to "check" on the status of your case. Tell them you are checking on procedure code: 43770 (that's the medical code for Lap Band) that ins companies use. If you get a "blah" answer -- then hang up and call again to speak with a better agent. If no luck, ask to speak to a supervisor.
