What's the hospital stay and off work time for removal.

My band may have to be removed (which I'm kind of happy about, maybe going for the VSG instead), due to erosion (does anyone know what causes erosion). I'm wondering how long the hospital stay is and what kind of off work time there is so I can schedule this properly.

I was in the OR by 1:30 pm and home that same day by 6:00pm when I had my band removed. It's really not a hard procedure and I was back at work in 5 days because I had nausea issues from anesthesia. There was virtually NO PAIN and I only took 1 percocet the 1st night so I could sleep.

If you're planning to have your VSG at the same time as your Band removal, you probably want to allow a week off. If you're just having the Band out, then a day or two should be fine. (Although I'd schedule surgery for Wednesday or Thursday, take the rest of the week off + have the weekend to recover.)
