Curious

I had a question for all of you that had the band removed and opted for another form of WLS. If the band failed, but you had lost a significant amount of weight and your BMI was considered normal, did your insurance cover the new procedure?

I was banded March 7 of this year. I am so happy that I did it and I have not had any problems. I am also aware that complications that lead to bad removal are rare. But I am the type of person that likes to know stuff "just in case" I know that if we get our bands removed and opt not to get a revision that we will most likely, if not definatly, gain all of the weight back.

Thank you for your responses in advance!

I don't think anyone here has been in that situation. I know that I had regained sufficient weight that I was MO when I had the DS.

I would be but I'm in another country with a completely different health system. It would be at the discretion of my surgeon, our insurance companies dont argue anythign that the surgeon says is necessary, and the surgeon would most likely recommend it because I had been obese and would likely become that way again.

I dont know that I think I would become obese again and I'm not sure I would opt to be rebanded, I'd kinda have to be there in that situation to take everything into consideration. But it would certainly be an option for me.

For the record, I didn't set out to become MO again. I lost about 50 pounds in six or eight months after banding surgery (I had lost weight prior to deciding to have surgery), and regained most of it over the next two years.
