I am officially DEBANDED as well and I am so happy about it. It wasn't too bad at all. Unfortunately I was sharing a room with a poor women who had just had a lap band put in and she was in so much pain and felt like she had been hit my a truck. I felt so sorry for her and I just hope this thing works out for her because I can honestly say that I am so glad to be rid of it. I ate breakfast this morning - cereal and grapes and I cried because I was so happy to be able to eat in the morning without pain or something getting stuck. I have missed breakfast so much. For me it's just not a way to live. Lunch today was amazing - I was able to eat at a normal pace and because I think I wasn't sitting there waiting for ages for stuff to pass through - I was full within half a plate - that hasn't happened before - I usually just want to keep eating but I'm in so much pain that I stop. I now feel so positive and happy and I too have no doubt that the whole band experience will fade from memory very soon.

Stella,

I'm definately feeling that bloated feeling now, too. It's 2 weeks tomorrow since my band was removed - and by the way they butchered my scars this time (I think they paid me back for quitting and ruining their stats!), I am left with deep, puckered creases versus the smooth, almost invisible ones I had after getting the band in the first place. Anyway, the bloating bothers me, and I'm drinking gallons trying to deal with it, which seems to lead to heartburn. **sigh** Life back in the real world, eh?

Unbanded

It has been 18 days since band removal. The removal was more difficult than the placement because of scar tissue, I had to have an open surgery. No fun. Also have developed a seroma. Still eating as if I had the band. I get full much quicker. Best Wishes to Everyone.

I am still successful with my band as of this point in time and have had no complications. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

It scares me a little to read through this thread, because I know that all of us start off with the highest of hopes and really none of us every know what might happen in the end. It is still informative in understanding symptoms and the need for appropriate follow-up care. I will definitely get an endoscopy done at my one year bandiversary.

By the way, GERD is a sufficient diagnosis for most insurances to get an endoscopy performed. If you are experiencing any symptoms of reflux you may find it covered even if banding is not.

Can you tell me how long it took for you to get back to normal-eating and drinking? I too had a lot of scar tissue and I was told that that I have esophageal spasms. My band has been out for a week now

I had my band two years ago in July. My band holds 4cc and I have about 2.8cc. I have been successful and lost 70 pounds, slowly. Although this has been a good thing because I really don't have any hanging skin. I have never been unfilled and have rarely vomitted. I figured it took me a life time to put the weight on so I was patient to see it come off............and enjoyed every pound lost and every smaller size I reached. This past year I lost 19 pounds, I am on target but I figured after not getting a fill in a year I decided to give myself a little help to get the last 25 pounds off. I had a little tightness in my chest which eventually past and for the first time something got stuck and I had trouble getting it up. I was uncomfortable for a few days and extremely nervous, and thought the band slipped or eroded, etc. I calmed myself and it got better. I probably should have left the band alone and just tried better at eating less, but I will admit I have relied so much on this band that it has become my best friend.....lol. We have to remember the band is only a tool to HELP us to get the weight off. Don't over fill for the sake of losing the last 20..... losing the band because of an over fill would make us very sad!

7.5 Months Out - ALL SYSTEMS GO!

I'm okay for now. No complaints except for sliming and not being able to handle some foods like barbeque.

I'm hovering +/- around 285 lbs. I think if I really worked at it, I could get it going down again. For right now, I'm good.

Good luck to all.

Regards,
Danny
