Horrible pain chest and back

Hi,
I was operated on on sept 7th 2007. I was doing fine, losing weight in a slow process. Lately I have been getting very sharp pains in my chest, feels like a stabbing pain in my chest and it continues to my back, I can barely breath at times... Does anyone know what this is? Is it because of over-eating, not enough liquids, or maybe something wrong with the band itself?

Does it happen while eating? Pains on the chest, especially the area of the band, that radiate to the back, is fairly common to experience when something is stuck.

I would call your doctor. I hate to be the voice of gloom and doom, but that recently happened to me and my band had slipped. Does the pain last for a long time?

If nothing else, you might need a slight unfill. When my doc took a little out, the pain quit happening. It wasn't until a month later that he did a barium swallow and saw the slippage.

Hope I'm wrong, but I would get it checked out if I were you. Of course, I may be overreacting based on my own experience, but if the pain you're describing is like the pain I had - much, much, much worse than the pain of getting something stuck - then you need to do something about it. No one should have to live with that.

Oh, do you still have your gallbladder? That can cause intense pain a few hours after eating.

Take care -

Might have them check your gall bladder as well, pain radiating to the back is a complaint I always heard associated to gall baldder. And losing it is very common following any WLS.
Hope you feel better soon!
Keep u
