Dr. C- or anyone QUESTION about PORT REVISION (size change)

What is involved if I need to go in and get a smaller port put in. It has really been bothering me lately and feel as if the time is getting closer and closer. Do they put you under and use anestesia? How much does it typically range from? How long is the recovery time? What is involved in recovery time. Pretty much looking for any and all info.

It's very easy, you have to have local anesthesia with some sedation. Takes about 30 minutes. Can't speculate on cost, depends on your center.

Thank you, is there any recovery time involved? Would I need to take off of work? (I teach)

Well, many many LBT members like myself have had port switches or port replacements. If you do a search for "port revision" you'll find quite a few threads with lots of good details.

It's not as involved as the original surgery, so do your research and you'll be more comfortable with the option.
