As far as I know, it takes an upper GI study with contrast barium to make the Dx. Some have symptoms, but I have read some did not.
Personally I had some worrisome symptoms but clinical findings were all 'normal'....yearly GI follow-up is a good idea. And if you have real concerns about your own situation, discussion with your surgeon is important.
