:straight Wow , no one replied to my last thread.
Not that the answer really matters I am just curious to find other people in a sim situation as myself.
This site is full of exellent advice and friendly people.
I hope the UK support site I just found is as good.Although apparently you have to pay.
Going to go check it out.

We don't HAVE a 'NHS' in the US....National Health Service....

Medicare does seem to cover some of the Bands for some folks, but I don't know the details.

Mostly, those with private insurance (the majority in the US) have defined benefits which may or may not include Banding.

The rest pay cash. Some go out of country to do so.

NHS is a UK thing I think. Let us know what you do find out....

NHS stands for National Health Service which is free for all and is paid for by our taxes.

Some people have been able to have their operations done by the NHS free of charge but it would seem you have to have a strong case and the waiting lists are usually long. I am trying to find out some more info and will post anything I find.

X Katie

Hi,

I got my band on the NHS in Glasgow. I waited just over year for it. You have to start by going to see your GP and having them refer you to a surgeon. Then when you see the surgeon they'll let you know how long the waiting list is. I think you need to have had some complications from the weight gain too, such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

I haven't seen your other thread so just ask and I'll help if I can.

Take care,
Yvonne
