I had my band put in last week and have been healing nicely, however there is a visible bump where my port is. Is this normal?

That is totally normal. Mine looked like a large egg, and was about the size of my hand. It is just swelling from where they put the port in. It will go away with time.

Phew! I thought it was swelling (`cuz it's sore), but had the moment of fear that it would stay like that.
Thanks,
Heather

I have that too, my port is raised to the point that it casts a shadow in the bathroom light.
I d not believe it to be swelling, for I can feel my port exactly. It is below my highest scar just off center of my belly/chest intersection. It is sore to the touch, but it feels to me like only my skin is stretched over it.
I fear it is not swelling at all! :straight

Yah, My port sticks out a little. It was that way right from surgery. Once the swelling went down Boom There it was!

Darn. I had heard that it can be visible once you loose some weight, but I didn't think I'd be able to see it from day one.

I hear ya Mandi...I still can't actually see mine sticking out but I can feel it. Mr Yoda's REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY sticks out.......we'll ask about it next time we go.
But then again, maybe I had more fat up there!!!

hmm... well, is there any truth to what I have heard about men having their belly fat BEHIND the abdominal muscles, where we have ours on the outside? If so, it would make sense that we have all the fat to poke through to feel our ports, while guys only have the skin? (but then again, it wouldn't make sense why so many other of these ladies can see THEIR ports!)

I must have fat behind and infront of the muscles, but my port sticks out. It feels neet to touch it.
I do have a question, my last fill they said that the port is on it's side. What causes it to move ?
I do a lot of stomach work and undulations with dancing, I wonder if that was it ?

My port has always been slightly visible. I thought that would be a good thing. That way the fil nurse/doc would have an easier time doing an adjustment.
4 out of 5 fills/de-fills have been uneventful!

I Have had 2 fills and two small de fills. The de fills hurt way more. I am hoping that as I lose more weight the port will not pop out more, but I guess you never know what will happen.
I do find that the first day I have the fill, I am tight and need some taken out but after that very little restriction. On this fill should I put up with having trouble swallowing water knowing that the next day will be better ?

Absolutely not. You should be able to very easily swallow water with no issues/problems immediately after a fill. This is for a reason. Ultimately the choice is yours....but you'd have to lie....as if you tell them you are having a problem, they will take some out (again, for a reason). But, why you would lie is beyond me!!! Be patient and do it the right way...that is my recommendation!

Always level headed Yoda. I too can see and feel my port. It is just below my highest incision a little to the left between my boobs. In a sitting position my bra actually rests on it and I find it uncomfortable. I can definitely feel it right under the skin too.

From every thing Dr. Rumbaut website has explained and from talking to Brigitte his patient coordinator, you shouldn't ever be able to see where the port is. After a lot of weight loss you may be able to feel it, but you shouldn't be able to see it. That's in Mexico though. Did you guys have surgery stateside? I'll ask Brigitte again to be sure.
