Overfull :(

Hi all

After an agonising 7 weeks since my last fill (agonising since I lost restriction and just the wait was long) I finally had another fill last night. Problem is now I am a little bit overful and am having trouble with liquids. I have made an appointment to see my surgeon tomorrow night, in the hpe that it may settle (am I being a little to optimistic??). I can't even burp - so that tells me there's something a little wrong.

I am a little disappointed of course, but I would rather be at the sweet spot (I haven't reached that point yet) than to be too overfull and not be able to eat anything?

Anyone with a similar experience?

I havent been unable to handle liquids but I had a teeny .1 fill back in March that in hindsight I just didnt really need - I needed to pull up my socks eating wise more than I needed a fill. Anyway, it was pretty tight but not problematic, didnt lose any weight at all though. Over time I think I began to eat crap that went down easily and the quality of my diet really suffered. Fast forward to July, a plane flight, period due and I could BARELY eat anything the whole weekend I was on the goldcoast. All the friends I was with were making comments about me being anorexic. I made an appointment when I came home.

My doc took .2ml out, now I'm WIDE open, lol, but I think I'll stick with it and use a little self control. I should not need to be tight to maintain.

Point of story, tight fills are miserable and they dont lend themselves to you eating well and it often doesnt even result in weight loss anyway. When you add in symptoms like reflux (I was a little phlegmy everytime I ate - I thought my cough was hanging round a bit long), hearburn, night couging or PBing and you are actually risking your band.

An unfill is never a terrible idea even if you're not quite sure. It cant do any damage and you can always have a fill again down the track. I learned that I must leave room for my body's fluctuations due to hormones etc.

And you know what? Even though I'm looser than I've been in probably 2 years, I'm enjoying everything I"m eating, I'm eating way healthier and I've not gained an ounce.

I have heard that your period can play havoc with the band. My period is due any day, which is probably why I feel like crap and may even be contributing to the tightness. I am also very phlegmy while I eat (mind you it's just yoghurt and it does hurt a little) and drink now.

Nevertheless, I will head off for an unfil tomorrow.

Thanks for that advice.

Im a little worried, I am going for my third fill tomorrow and I dont know if it will be too much and I live too far away to just drop back and get an unfill. Im staying in Perth overnight so hopefully I will know before I go if its not working. I can eat and drink anything after about 1.00pm each day before that Im quite tight and only drink green tea. I do get reflux at night but usually only if I have not followed the rules and stopped eating 2 hours before. Is reflux always a sign of being too tight?
A couple of time lately I have not been able to stomach dairy foods like yoghurt it just flegms up and I end up pb'ing.
I have left it a little late to ask for advice I know I guess I will just have to hope for the best.

Ahhhh instant relief during my unfill.

Because I wasn't vomiting and keeping liquids down, the doc only removed half of what he put in. Yahoo, I am so much better now. I can actually burp again!! And now I can eat... :biggrin2:
