I have had the inamed small AP band since oct 08 (I just had to cehck my paperwork to see what sort of band I have). I haven't had any problems with it. All the best for your surgery. (I am assuming that my band is the one you are talking about?)

Re: the new LAP-BAND AP (Advanced Platform)

To be honest, I don't know too much about the system other than it is in me ! I'm doing really well after having received my band from Dr. Joseph Moran in Raleigh, NC on April 8, 2009. I have the LAP-BAND® AP Large. Scheduled for first fill in a couple of weeks but still off to a great start. I don't have much restriction and have only had two instances where I felt "backed up" or stuck a little bit and that was my fault for eating too quickly and not chewing as well as I should have. All in all it is going great !!!

Re: the new LAP-BAND AP (Advanced Platform)

I just checked what band I had after seeing this thread and I have an AP small band. It has worked well for me so far - I really didn't think about different choices of bands before surgery - I figured the surgeon would use one they know works best and would be best for me.

Re: the new LAP-BAND AP (Advanced Platform)

After looking into this a little more, due to this thread, I wonder why anyone uses the old types of bands any more? Surely the AP is superior!? Reduced risk of slippage and erosion, 360 degree inflation, easy release clasp... Sounds much better all round.
