I waited one week

I waited one week. I could have gone back sooner but was having trouble getting enough water in - my Dr. didn't use a general anestesia - I think with a general it might take a bit longer to feel up to par. I think a lot will depend on the type of work you do as well - I'm mostly at a desk. Sitting wasn't 100% comfortable and I was walking a lot throughout the day.

Hi Mark,
Depends on your work. Everyone is different. If you are sitting around normally you could go back in the 1st week. You will probably be a bit tender. Driving isnt too bad, although I left it a week. You just need to listen to your body.

If you have a manual job you really should give yourself a few weeks. (But rem everyone is different). I have a new born and I was bending to litting him, but I opened up my main wound within a few days. My shoulder pain didnt start to a week post op.

Hope that helps,
Regards
Lisa

From memory, I was out of action for a week. But after that - nothing stopped me! I was driving, shopping, cleaning, caring for my then 7 year old, and husband.

I was banded on Thursday 8/31, went back to work yesterday. I was planning to go back on Monday, but something came up that I needed to go infor. I did OK really. I sit at a desk, biggest problem was port discomort from sitting. Today I feel really good. No pain at all, just an awareness of the port.

I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back at work the following Thursday. I definitely didnt feel 100% but I was totally able to do my job. My biggest issue was needing extra sleep, so I was having to go to bed MUCH earlier than normal to feel human the next day!

I had my surgery on a Tuesday andw as back to work (I am a teacher) the following Monday. I was fine at work, but looking back over the month to six weeks after my surgery, I realize I was very tired and less active than usual. I was banded on Nov. 29, and I even had trouble getting all of my Christmas decorations together last year. However, the fact that I am raising twins, coaching cheerleading, and working on a second master's degree may have more to do with being tired than the surgery! Hmmmm....
