A thought just struck me, am I going to be able to eat vegemite again? Can we still have it after surgery and if so, on what?? I've tried eating bread without having a liquid and its virtually impossible to get it down. So what will I be able to have my veg on?? |

Hey Sunwyse,
I have my vegemite on dry crackers now, eg Salada. I can't eat bread anymore, it makes me PB, and I do miss vegemite on toast!
Still. For 26kg lost in 7 months? I'm happy to just have my vegemite on Saladas.
Are you banded yet? It seems like you've been on the boards here forever!

I've never seen vegemite. From what I've heard, some wouldn't care if they never saw it again either. What in the world IS it?

anniedub: I'm being banded on 29 October, so not long now. I had to wait til my 12 months was up with the insurance company first.
Jack: You wouldn't know vegemite, unless you'd been to Koala Blue in LA (I think is where she opened it). Its a black, vitamin B rich spread you put on toast. Most people who try it as adults think you spread it all over bread like peanut butter. Wrong. Its really, really salty. You only use a smidge - unless you are like me and like to have lots of it. It is an aquired taste, but here we start feeding it to bubs before they are 1.
Cherry: I've only just heard about the idea of veg with avo. I'm allergic to avo so not going to try it, but to be honest, I can't imagine what the taste combo would be like.
Thanks for letting me know I don't have to go without :) There are options and I'm sure I'm going to have fun exploring them. Sounds like you can have a dry bikky Ok, just not toast. |

I eat vegemite all the time.
I can eat toast, dont very often but I have anything and everything on Ryvitas or cruskits for breakfast and vegemite and butter is a fave.
Its good on Saladas, vita wheats (squish it thru the holes, lol), etc.

Yep vegemite on cruskits for me too! I was one of those people who only tried vegemite as an adult (was born overseas) and I definitely acquired a taste for it! Tomato and onion with tuna on cruskits is yum too.
I can have bread some days, and on others, it won't sit. So I generally avoid it now.

if all else fails, stick a spoon in the jar, lasts for ever, and helps me get over a salty craving, where before i would fill with a packet of smiths crisps. my 7 year old daughter taught me this little trick, she does it with peanut butter as well.
