Hi everyone
Well I am now banded. I had to go into Western Private Tuesday at 5pm. I had no idea what time my surgery was scheduled. I ended up being Dr Nottle's final patient for the day. I went into theatre at approx 9.15 - waiting around for so long was awful!
I believe that all went well. I had a minimal amount of shoulder pain and some tenderness around the port when I came to so they gave me drugs and I was painfree the whole night. This didn't mean that i actually got any sleep though. What with being on a narrow bed, in an uncomfortable gown with some machine measuring my BP and then bleeping like crazy at me all night I don't think I managed to get more than about an hour.
I didn't have any nausea the first night which was great but have it now. Yesterday morning my arms felt heavy and shaky which I think was due to low blood sugar so was given some apple juice. Wow that tasted good although when you try and drink more later it starts being very sickly as it is so sweet.I started to feel nauseous whilst still in the hospital so they gave me another drug via the IV. Can't say this has helped though. I still feel nauseous whenever I am in any position except for lying down.
Left hospital at about 10.30 am yesterday and have been vegging around the house. Have walked around a little bit but find it hard due to the nausea.Pain is well under control.
My hubby very kindly decided to sleep in the spare room yesterday so I had the bed all to myself. It was great. I normally sleep on my side or stomach.I used a pillow next to my stomach which was a tremendous help - I was able to sleep on my side with no pain.
At the moment I am not hungry and have also been burping quite a lot. Will have to try to get some kind of protein down a bit later. At the moment I am sipping a cup of warm tea and hoping that the nausea eventually subsides. The noises coming from my stomach at the moment are incredible.
So I am now on the other side and on my way
