Wow!

No, Inamed, makers of the Lap Band system claim this appliance is made to last a human's lifetime.

But, being the concious consumer.... how do we know that's really true?

We'd have to look outside the USA becuase the band hasn't been FDA approved here as long as it has in other parts of the world.
So that would be international news..not here in the US. Of course, we'd find out about it.

I'm curius, too about the band...and how long it lasts. I'm on maintenance and although I'll never see my band doc again, unless something goes wrong.... in the back of my mind I wonder.

Do Australians use the Inamed Lap Band System, or do they have another manufacturer? And how long has it been in use in Australia? (I'm not Australian but if you don't mind I'd like to keep an eye on this thread as I'd like to know, too)

I wouldn't worry, after all you can't do anything to stop it if it was to need replacing so enjoy, you can always get a new one anyway
