i didnt qualify for surgery in the states, so i am headed to mexico oct 4 w/ dr huacuz. i dont know if the hospital will require pre-pmyt or not. you could always ask them, and ask them if you could set up some sort of pymt plan?? best of luck.

I was self pay, and it was all due before the surgery. Hospitals will generally work with you, but you should get with their finance office before the surgery, to avoid the stress afterwards.

$5,000? holy crap, how much is your Dr. charging you. My surgeon charges $17,000 which makes a 20% copay $3,200 which is still alot, but not $5,000. :faint:

Hi Jamie, Yes I had to do the 20% co-pay. My hospital demanded the money up front so I took out a loan. However, if your hospital will work a payment plan with you all the better. I would give that a try. Most places want to truly help you and would be willing to enter into an agreement knowing you have insurance that will cover 80%. Good for your for taking that first step. I will never regret mine! :) Where are you located in Wyoming? I'm in Cheyenne and the hospital here can and will work with you; you just have to mildly persistent and assertive.
Best Regards,
se
