Wink **What is the meanest weight related thing anyone has ever said to you**

Hello All,

I am just curious to know some of the meanest thing ever said to you regarding your weight! I have a couple, but let me first give you some background. I am 5'9 and weigh 245lbs. However, 5 years ago I weighed 145. I live in a somewhat small city so everyone knows ur business. AND for some odd reason, everyone is dead bent on being thin...hahahaha.

Scenario 1: I worked 3rd shift as a waitress at a local diner and I was giving service to a group of teenagers. Everything was fine until I was cleaning off the table. One of the girls left me a note on a napkin saying: Honey, you are a big blue whale! I had a blue shirt on that night. I couldn't help but cry like a baby! hahahaha, kind of embarrasing.

Scenario 2: There was this hot guy working as a cook with me and he was talking to the other cooks. I was rolling silverware close enough to the kitchen to where I could hear them. They were rating the waitresses on "do-ability"...ie.....which one would you screw. One guy just threw me in the picture and the hot guy said "Yeah, if I ever felt like getting with a walrus! I'd have to be reeeeeeeeeeally super drunk to hit that, and even then I'd think twice about it" I was crushed. After he said that, he wasn't so hot anymore. He was just an asshole. hahahahaha.

Those are just 2 among many. I have to think of some other ones and I'll repost later. I know this isn't one of the best topics but my nursing instructor said that it's good to express your feelings instead of repressing it. Talking about things......especially the bad times.......is one of the greates therapies ever! :biggrin1:

So come on people, spill the beans! Oh and by the way, this is a NON-JUDGEMENTAL/SUPPORTIVE thread! :D

Thanks for reading,

Brit

To the OP, WASaBB was posting a link to the very long thread that already discusses this topic, I guess great minds think alike :)

Check it out, three are some really dastardly things there...

I never became so obese that it occasioned comment. I looked like most other people around these days, way too fat but basically "normal". I was rarely the fattest in the room or anything like that. So I think as an adult I got an easy run.

But weirdly even though I was a normal weight child, I really suffered constant weight related wise cracks and criticism which I believe destroyed a normal relationship with food, caused me to begin dieting at 12 and I dieted myself fat basically.

The worst that used to hurt the most wasnt the taunting or teasing or the label "Fat Nash" at primary school, it was when my mother and friends would discuss me like I wasnt there, and say things like "she's not fat, just solid" or "she's just a big girl". They didnt mean to hurt me, I have a wonderful mother but I could read the undercurrent that I wasnt "normal". I wasnt pretty and petite like other 12 year olds, I was already 5'5" tall and about 130 lb at 12 - tall and quite solidly built - and somehow I got the message that that was a failing. The fact that I grew to 5'10" by 15 made it worse. I was just too big to be considered beautiful or even acceptable. Now as an almost 40 year old I feel absolutely fantastic at my current weight and I get plenty of appreciation and many of those smaller, more petite ladies who've become round and fat envy my height and my newfound slimness.

And yet, I can feel myself do it to my 10 year old son. He's going to be HUGE. He's going to be 6'6" and built big. His hands and wrists are already dwarfing mine. But he's also going to battle his weight just like his dad and I did. I want to help him prevent that but there seems to be no way to broach the subject (he does overeat and underexercise) without making him feel like I did at that age. In a way thought its weird, there's so many obese kids around these days that he doesnt even occasion comment in comparison, he's just a bit well padded. In my day, kids were stick thin.

by a guy I had a huge crush on..."your the prettiest fat girl I have ever seen"..Gee thanks asshole

by a (guy, if that matters) good friend who asked how the weight loss was going..."wow, 60 pounds, so you dont look like a mobile home now"..umm, and why are you my friend?? He said he was joking obviously, but the damage was done.

Same unsensitive ass as above..."well, you have a pretty face so at least you have that going for you"...still not helping, prob time for you to stop speaking..

This is definately not the meanests "fat" comment that was ever said to me but for some reason it is the one that bothered me the most.

"You have such a pretty face". Not meant to be mean at all, but it just bothered me the most. Not sure why.
