....here's one guy analyzing the debate...
Don't miss the "Part 1" or
Sen Obama admits his lacks experience. And he started running mere days after being elected to his first 6 year Senate term.
I thought the Dems opposed political on-the-job training.

There are Republicans that have expressed through various forums and media outlets that they are disappointed with their party BUT can't bring themselves to vote for Obama because he is "scary". Was there a memo sent that officially adopted using this adjective to describe Obama?
There are also Republicans that will not vote for Obama because of his skin color (there may be some Dem. that have crossed over because of this as well), they have also tried to plant lies claiming that he is a Muslim and when they type his name they will put HUSSEIN in all caps to drive home their point.
This is the USA and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would respect the Rep. more if they admitted that their main issue with Obama is skin color and his name. Not the cliche' of inexperience (they support Palin for crying out loud and will defend her stupidity -yes I said it - on the issues).
Ahhh, but they fool themselves and try to fool America by saying that his skin color or name does not matter. Bull shiggity!
But to their defense, they are simply following the tone and demeanor of their leader McCain. Last night, this was validated through his actions. He looked away when shaking Obama's hand. He would not even look at him even after the moderator, Jim Leher instructed the candidates to do so (and no, the fact that he has an adopted daughter from Bangladesh will not be accepted as evidence to the contrary, nor will the I have a black friend rule be allowed) McCain was undignified, condescending, and insulting. He looked very familiar to a southern girl like my self. I was waiting for him to say that he would "stand in the white house doors"-re: Gov. George Wallace- before he would see Obama as president.
Those of us that have experienced intolerance and discrimination witnessed an all too familiar scene.
Think about it: For those that have struggled with discrimination or intolerance because of your weight. You KNOW when someone is treating you "differently" regardless of how subtle the gesture. Then, they would feign innocence or use the "I have a fat friend" cop out.
No I am not "paranoid" or a "conspiracy theorist." The same was said of civil rights workers (strange fruit was a figment of their imagination I guess). It is what it is.
I applaud Obama for remaining dignified and focused as he was name called in a public forum . I wonder how he learned that life skill? Experience, perhaps?
I throw down the gauntlet to anyone that begs to differ.
As we say where I am from ,"Republicans there's no future in your frontin'!"
You are the ones that are truly scary.

| Re: Poll - Democrat or Republican? Sarah Palin has no clue. Why don't the repubs let her speak to us? Are they scared? Saturday Night Live didn't even have to make up a skit to make fun of her. They used her actual words to do it. That is very scary. McCain still shows he is nothing more than an all over the place war monger. He is too old and his judgment to put someone as ridiculous and Sarah Palin as his second in command demonstrates his extremely poor lack of judgment. He is angry and is not level headed enough to deal with the issues we have facing our country. We can't go everywhere and declare war on everyone who doesn't do as we say. We have to be able to unite with others. We need to improve our standing in the world instead of continue alienating ourselves. He claims he loves the vets. Well most of the vets I know don't love him and think he is a liar. He hasn't supported them the way he claims he has. The fact that he can't look at his opponent while in a debate tells me there are some severe underlying issues McCain is harboring. He is running to represent all people not just the few. I cannot take a possible four years of looking at his short stumpy arms and chipmunk face or dealing with the soccer mom's mentality who has no clue as to what the hell is going on in the real world outside of the little bubble she lives in and her voice OMG!!!! |

Exactly, LB. I forgot to mention how angry McCain seems. He is bitter. Warmonger is a great way to describe the old man.

An angry ailing old white man and a woman who made the rounds of a bunch of second rate universities or a Harvard educated half-black man who was involved in service to the community. Gosh.

geez, I must be on the wrong forum...
re: "We need to improve our standing in the world instead of continue alienating ourselves. "
Improving out standing it the world is exactly why our buildings were knocked down; exactly why our ships and embassies were attacked over the past 20+ years, and....oh, yes....EVERYBODY has their hand out for OUR money....the beloved UN, the wonderful nations afflicted by drought, plague, AIDS, insurrection, pirates, etc....just give us your foreign aid and we'll promise to love you today....
They all hate us so much they flock to our universities, seeking our grants, our visas, our scholarships, our largess to support their notions of localized harmony with their neighbors...just as long as they are the same religion, same culture, same language....sure, McCain is the sock puppet symbolizing the great demon of the US. He has the bad judgment to believe US has the right to sovereign choices and self interests...unlike all the other nations who only look out for others....
Better take another look at where the world would be without those policies in place.
Re: "stumpy arms".
This is one of the most petty and ignorant comments I've seen yet.
Those stumpy arms are a result of having his shoulders dislocated repetitively during his capture and torture by a...get this...signatory to the Geneva Conventions, which as we all know, doesn't allow such to happen....yet old stumpy arms himself is against US torture policy.
As far as being able to see something, looking at a country and pronouncing yourself 'able to bring it together in harmony' as a campaign slogan....is rather at STRONG cognitive dissonance with the recorded fact of how the polls show opinions so strongly in disagreement, and with such a nearly equal sized percentage on each side.
Don't forget that 'Harvard educated man doing community service' was also the editor of his law school journal...and managed to write TWO books during that time....both about himself....
But we're getting away from the point....just how is it 30s style economic theory tied to 60s style socialism is going to solve 21st century problems? How are we going to QUOTE: "Take 95% of the middle class OFF taxation" (yes, I heard Sen Obama say that) while creating additional $800B in new programs?
The social agenda of the 60s creating tax-supported broken families with no academic or job skills has blossomed into our current crisis....people who can't afford housing being given unrealistic mortgages by greedy businesses under mandate from the Federal government to 'make affordable housing available".....
I guess we'll all be out there together sleeping under that bridge until it collapses.

| Re: Poll - Democrat or Republican? Well seeing as stumpy arms got that way by being and tortured, I find it ironic that he is so eager to keep fighting the war in Iraq for as long as it takes and sending our women and men to fight a war that we never should have been fighting in the first place. He has a bad temper and likes playing war with other peoples lives. He is quick to snap to a judgment without thinking things through. Look how he said "stop everything" including the debate so we can concentrate on the bail out crisis. Apparently, he can only focus on one thing at a time. I am glad Obama called him out on the fact that the commander and chief has to be able to focus on more than one thing at a time. His judgment is extremely questionable. Some conservative republicans are already starting to admit that Sarah Palin needs to drop out and questioning McCain’s judgment. She is a joke. Jack, I think your views fall in line with the old establishment. We need new leadership with new ideas. Out with the old ways that haven’t been working. Let’s try something new. |

Here's an interesting 'voter poll' to check your views with 13 statements on policy and position from the candidates. ABC News: Match-o-Matic 2

Deal with it or don't. Just because you don't agree doesn't change the fact. Yes, it is unfortunate that this happend to him during that time. I usually don't call people out on their physical differences, but this is one person that I must. You can say what you want and feel what you feel. It doesn't change a thing for me. |
