Sandwiches must be a bit pricey up in Philly. How's it going Jack? I notice that you are on the move back down the scale, again. Good deal. Still got those leathers?

Why does everyone have to take a good thing and ruin it? Lobster on philly cheese steak? Bah humbug!

I gotta agree with macmadame on this one adding lobster and truffles to it, its no longer a philly cheesesteak at that point. Man that is one thing I miss from my childhood growing up in NJ can't seem to find a good cheesesteak anywhere here in the midwest.

You can't get real Philly Cheesesteak on the West Coast either. I always say when I go back East that I'm going to get one but most of the time it doesn't happen. At this point, I'm almost afraid to in case they aren't as good as I am remembering them.

The things I've seen on TV portrayed as 'philly cheesesteaks' don't have any appeal to me, if that is an accurate rendition. Sort of a mass hysteria the krispy kreme folks and any other example that glorifies overconsumption with enthusiasm.

Must be a regional thing. I've had the famed Coney Island Dogs from Nathan-whoever that famous guy was, actually specially delivered to me "fresh in dry ice" for a treat to a special friend...*feh*....and I've tried several of the specialties in my preOp days.

We got local packers with some really good stuff I'd put up any day in a taste off.

Probably 'fresh' has a lot to do with it.

We have a small local seafood chain over on the coast that has crowds of tourists standing in line a good part of the year...and it's famous far and wide. I've tried it a couple of times, and have to report, most of the locals go down the street for something better. And no, I ain't gonna say where it is or who it is.

And yes MyKdsDad I still have some leathers...now WAY too big for me....still trying to figure out what to do with 'em...

I hear you there Jack. I have tried everyplace around here that says they have phillycheesesteaks and I find that If i get the craving for one It's better to just go to the grocery and buy a few boxes of steakums and make my own. LOL. This way I can also control better whats on it. take the extra steps to make sure its not greasy (can't handle alot grease anymore) And even though I'm not banded yet. I find making a wrap out of it its way better then a huge bun anyday. Plus you can use the less fat cheese etc.

And yes I think fresh has alot to do with it. Not to mention the quality of ingredients, I seriously hate to shop for things like tomatos or many fruits anymore. The ones you get in stores are bland and tasteless.

Pre-op I would have much rather had 20 $5.00 cheesesteaks than a single $100 one.
