Hi! My name is Steffie in WA State. I am considering the Lap Band procedure. My husband is not sure of this idea but he is willing to go to a seminar with me. I would like to hear from you about the pros/cons. The joys/struggles. Was it worth it? How is it living with the food restrictions. Is it safe to have the procedure done in Mexico and what about aftercare in the States? That's a good start. I must say I admire those of you who have done this. Your experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:help:

:welcome2: to BandLand.....

My wife was also not sure----at first.....

joys/struggles are listed daily.....

worth it? Yes. Very much. The 'food restrictions' in trade for the bleak misery I suffered for decades preBand don't amount to a mustard seed in a entire glorious bounty of a far wider range of choices than I had....yes, eating styles and amounts are different than preBand....and that's the vey idea....

Explore a bit further in the archives...join in discussion....

cheers and good luck......

Welcome Steffie

Hello and Welcome!

I am still pre-band, but just for about a month longer until my surgery. This board is so so helpful and has been a guiding light during the decision making process and there-on. I have found basically everything I needed to know about the band with addition to medical documental type information.

I hope that you find on here what you need. At this point I cannot tell you the pros/cons b/c I am not banded, but I will tell you that I cannot wait to start my new life!

I am on the same boat as you. I am trying to decide weather I want to do this or not.

I am so scared that something is going to go wrong or that I am going to continue eating like I do. I don't know if I will be able to do the liquid thing. My insurance won't cover it, but I do want a new me. I am 200 lbs and 5'4. I want to be 125. I don't know how long that will take or what if I die without eating like I used to? i have such a demanding job and what if I don't have the energy to do my day to day things? Those are some worries that I have. I have 4 small children. What do you recommend. Help. Someone who had it done, was it scary? Did you have terrible side effects or was it easy?
