Hair Loss

Earlier today I was reading another thread where there were comments about hair loss.

I have hypothyrodism which has made my hair thin. I have not been banded yet. Does anyone know of anything that I can start now before surgery that will help me keep the hair (and maybe help grow some more) before I have surgery:omg:

Would greatly appreciate any help with this.

Some folks say Biotin and making sure you get enough protein. Other than that, I am not sure. I am doing this now, and my hair loss has slowed. My surgeon said it should stop around 8 months post-op.

I also heard to make sure you are taking a good multi-vitamin as well as additional folic acid vitamin

One thing to keep in mind is that the surgery and related stress will probably cause you to lose more hair than normal. The good news is that it will grow back soon enough.

Personally, I've noticed that the extra protien that I eat has made my nails grow really strong and well... So that's a good trade for some folks!

Sorry I can't offer anything else.

Thanks for this info. I bought some biotin yesterday, and learned a valuable lesson. Do not take this at night. I was awake all night.:tired
