**Medcost anyone??**

Hello all!

I have a new job and they use Medcost Insurance. Does anyone else have this type of insurance? I think it involves only North and South Carolina, however I'm not sure. Does this type of insurance cover weightloss surgery??? Please let me know!

Thanks so much,

Brit

The best thing for you to do is call your insurance compan your self. Every company has it's own agreement with the employer.

Good luck

I work for a local bariatric surgeon and from my exp Medcost as a general does cover WLS but Dianne is correct you would want to call them directly and see if your policy covers WLS. (I can tell you if you are CHS employee they do cover it.)

Good Luck!

Good Luck, I have MedCost Preferred and have been fighting them a month now to get them to cover the Lap Band. I am at my last straw with them, and I am now having my Dr. literally talk to them without faxes, and passing on messages. The bad part is that I have every ailment nessecary for the surgery and MedCost keeps telling me, "NO, ITS NOT IN YOUR PLAN AND THATS THE WAY IT IS"!!! I hope the best for you!!

I have MedCost Preferred through my husbands job and they covered mine. I had to give them 6 months of supervised weightloss records and I found an old weight watchers card from 2005 and they accepted that. It was covered 100%. The crazy part is that my husband also wanted to get it done and they sent him a letter asking for much more and he needs it more than I in terms of weight to lose and ailments. He has since decided not to get the surgery done at least not this year, when he was going through the pre op stuff they found cancer but he is ok now.
