I took yesterday off work and got all my pre-op testing out of the way...chest x-ray, EKG, physical, blood work, and pulmonary function test. I was told everything looked fine. Just 2 more weeks to go until the 24th! I'm excited and nervous, but I'm sure both emotions are normal.

congrats on the date!! it is so exciting to know that a new life, and way of eating is just around the corner.
small pillows came with my post-op items, but if yours doesnt make sure u have one for the ride home. those small bumps in the road make your riding experience most uncomfortable after surgery. not to mention the seat belt.
make sure your fridge is free from junk so there's no temptation lurking. then get sugarfree popsicles, jello, broth, water, flinstone chewables, gasX, etc. but, another important thing people might fail to mention is your laundry. i would make sure that at least 2 weeks of clothes is ready (1 week minimum). its just 1 less thing to have to worry about when youre trying to recover. congrats again!!
Good ideas, zone6...I have everything you mentioned except the chewable vitamins and the pillows. I'll get a couple of those small travel pillows at Wal-Mart...they should lwork great. And I hadn't thought of the laundry, but I'll make sure I have it all done before we head for Sioux Falls.
I sent my husband out to get one of them prop up pillows...I dunno the name of them.....They have high backs and arm rests on the sides... I wasn't able to get up once I laid down, it was VERY difficult and being in the upright position really helped. I just used that and one pillow and it was all good. Or I slept in the recliner.
IM SOOO EXCITED FOR YOU

Oh cool! Your is for the 24th too. Well, mine was for that same day, but my gallbladder started to act up, so they want to remove that first, so my band got postponed.
Good luck and do post about your experience.. I would love to hear.
Gentlespirit,
I am also scheduled for the 24th and my emotions are like rollercoasters. One minute I am excited, then I'm nervous, then I wish that I didn't have to lose weight this way. I'm also wondering if I should be doing more to prepare. I've read that some people are on liquid diets for weeks before. My surgeon wants a liquid diet the day before. I wonder how long I will be out of work. I see some people are out for a few days and others are out for weeks. Anyway, I know what you are going through.! Best of luck!
We are kind of walkin in the same shoes. My date is set for Jan 19. I too am nervous but kind of excited. I am nervous because I will need to find a huge support network. I have hesitated to tell many folks because I don't want all my customers and friends watching me and watching every move. I am gonna follow directions to the letter and don't need any watch dogs. BUUUUUT, I have decided I need the support and maybe
even folks who are watching to help me through this time. So tomarrow I will tell people around me. I am counting on this site to help me along the
jouney. I have really learned a lot reading these posts.
I too have everything I think I will need. If I don't have it my husband will
get it for me. I live a ways away from the hospital, 112 miles in fact so they have asked me to spend the night at a motel. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need to take with me?
Dr. Schmidt in Bismarck ND is my surgeon. He is great too. :)
Three days and counting. Thinking about this seems to totally consume me!!!
