My insurance won't cover me, so I'm going the self-pay route. I attended a seminar at the Kane Center in Arlington Heights, and was told that there self-pay price is $16,500. Yikes! Anyone know of a more reasonable self pay doctor in or around Chicago? I'm willing to drive 3 hours to find a doctor who charges reasonably.

I also have insurance with no coverage. You may want to look into Day One Health in downtown Chicago. They're 16K but you get a year of free fills, which I suppose can be pretty costly otherwise. Additionally, there's a fee of $375 to meet with the psychologist on staff before the surgery. Not great, I know, but reasonable considering U of C costs $1000 for similar pre-screening testing. Hope this helps.

Im going with the Lakeshore Laparoscopic Bariatric Center. I am also a self pay patient. The price here is only $14,500 all inclusive plus free fills for a year and $100 after that! It is located at 7200 N. Western Ave. at the corner of Western and Toughy in Chicago! The number is 1877.6.Lap Band or 773.465.SLIM
