Different consignment shops operate differently. Most charge a percentage of the sale price, but some can be as high as 50% or more. You might b able to look in the phone book and call around. You could also try used furniture stores.
If you have talked to a realtor, ask about including the furniture with the house. Another option would be to keep it in the house until either the house sold or you make other arrangements for it. A house generally shows better with some furniture, especially a few nice pieces. Buyers can get an idea of what it will look like with your own there.
If all else fails you may be able to donate it and get a deduction on your taxes.
I have also seen furniture on ebay.
Hope this helps
