| I’m hungry! Can I have something more than liquids ? Surgeons agree that healing takes about 3-4 weeks on average and that complete healing takes 6-8 weeks on average. Some people heal faster and others take longer. Your post-op diet is not meant to torture you. It’s meant to heal you. If you are starving and don’t feel you can continue without something more than what is on your “approved” diet list, call your surgeon’s office and ask to speak with the nurse, nutritionist, or physician assistant. Frequently, they will allow you one or two additional foods. NEVER advance your diet unless advised to do so by your surgeon’s team of professionals.
