I had my surgery at Mercy, and I tell you, you will be sorry later. The aftercare and follow-up is horrible. You will find that you are just a number, and if you are a public aid patient, you will only get appointments once a month. They do fills in small increments instead of how restricted you are because they only get paid for one visit a month through public aid. I would go to the University, because once you have your surgery somewhere, other surgeons will not take you on as a patient because they consider it a liability. They don't want to take on someone else's surgery patient and rightfully so. Mercy has been the worst experience in the Chicagoland area that I have heard of. Some won't speak of it because of fear that the clinic will drop them.
Good luck and prayers.
