Finally . . . the life I should have been living

I have been overweight all my life. No dates as a teenager or in my 20s as I was morbidly obese. I finally lost weight in my late 20's when I met my wonderful husband. Just a few years later, after the birth of our twins, I regained the weight. I would lose 40 pounds here and there just to regain it back plus more. When I was finally determined in my late 40s to lose it for good, I found I could not, most likely because my metabolism had slowed. I researched the LAP-BAND® procedure on the lapbandtalk forum and determined it was for me. Even though I did not qualify for insurance coverage, my wonderful husband paid for the surgery. I am forever greatful to him for saving my life in more ways than can be imagined. The LAP-BAND® lifestyle is easy as long as you follow the doctor's rules, get the fills to help you lose and get unfills when you are too tight. I eat almost everything but slowly and in children's size portions. I lost slowly and at the most have never regained more than 2-3 pounds. Some 20 months out from surgery, I have lost 73 pounds and am 8 pounds from goal. I went from a size 20, 230 pound, 5'5 miserable woman to a size 8/10, 157 pound estatic woman. Plus there is the confidence in knowing that it will never come back. The battle is finally over and I WON! After years of walking through this world "the invisible woman" men are flirting with me and women are talking to me. I went from pre-diabetic, high cholosterol, high blood pressure, lower back and knee pains to perfectly healthy. I started slowly exercising at first, barely able to walk for more than 10 minutes on a treadmill only 1-2 times per week. Now I have 35 minute workouts 4-5 times per week with hand weights, lifecycle, jogging on a treadmill and even a stairstepper. I look and feel 10 years younger and love that clothes look and fit beautifully on me. The LAP-BAND® has given me the life I should have been living all along and I am grateful for this procedure and the doctor who performed it. My health is the greatest gift that God gives us and in turn, taking care of it is the greatest gift I can give to my family. Thank you my darling husband for your love and support.
