I have struggled with my weight all my life. Although after having my first child I was extremely obese. Just everyday living seemed so much harder dealing with being overweight. I have a beautiful little boy who is turning 8 this year, who is a very active play outside kinda boy
I have not ever really been able to go run around, play games, baseball, things like that with him. I had tried so many diets, then just gave up, basically letting food control me. I had several medical conditions that come with the territory if you will. When I first heard about the Lap Band, I thought wow that is sooo awesome, but I am such a chicken! Well, I knew that I wanted some help, I knew I wanted to live and be there for my son, see him grow up. I knew if I kept going the way I was, I might not make it to see him grow up. So I did tons of research on the Lap Band, and gastric bipass. My doctor had discussed the Lap Band with me, and wrote a letter to my insurance company, to assist me. My insurance no way no how would not pay for the surgery. They would rather spend tons of other money on medications I was on and who knows down the road what I would have needed. So, I felt so hopeless. I was absolutely miserable. There is no way I could afford to pay at the time $25,000.00. Well years had gone on and then my parents offered to help me out and finance the surgery. So, I found a place as close to home to have it, there is no one in my hometown that does this procedure. I was scheduled so many appointments..... on and on. Then I was having a test, and the guy who was doing it says hey, I went to Mexico and had mine done, I know what you are thinking... me too! I was like weren't you terrified? He said he had the best experience ever, and it was like less than 1/2 price there. So, I checked into it very well!!!! I found a doctor in Mexicali, Mexico.
Dr. Aceves. He was wonderful!!!!!! I had the best care, I was informed, treated like one of their family. Let me tell you though, I was sooooo scared, one of the airplane, first time and two...well the surgery, never having one before. Here I am now, I was banded November 27, 2007. The day my whole life changed. I am so thankful, I have lost about 65 lbs so far, and I am feeling like a different person, life is so much funner! I am able to do alot more than I used to, and most of all I can spend time keeping up with my wild boy! I have had 2 fills and my band is 1/2 full. I would do it again and again. I have had to change my lifestyle. It isn't easy, but the Lap Band has sure helped me. I would encourage anyone who is a candidate for this surgery to check into it, it will change your life so much!!!!! | Published by | | Registered User Join Date: Dec 2007 Age: 27 Posts: 4 | | LBT Magazine Topics | | | | | | | | | | | | Sponsored Links - Remove These Ads by registering for a FREE account | | | |
