find Dr. closer to home

Hi ya'll. It's been quite some time since I've logged in. My dilema: I'm 13 lbs from goal-(banded May 24, 06.) It was my choice to travel 10 hours to this particular surgeon. I'm happy with that! I've had only 4 fills to get this close to goal. BUT I would love to give up the 10 hours for a closer doctor. Last time I made the trip, I asked the nurse what she thought. Her reply was that she would not want someone else messing with what's working. Should I stick it out till I make goal and then find someone closer or go ahead and do it now? Any thoughts? Thanks!

I travel 9 hours from Oklahoma to see my doctor in Mississippi. I will continue to do so unless I have some emergency in which I need to see a doctor closer. I think staying with the doctor you know and trust is the best - especially since you are so close to your goal.

Where in AR are you and where are you traveling to?

Honestly, if they are hitting your port easily with each fill, I would probably stay where I was. I know gas is expensive, but so is the band inside you. Also, I am a BIG baby about pain, and I would want to go where I KNOW they can take care of me.

If I had to travel that long I think I would make it a treat for myself. Spend extra time doing something fun. Whether it's a spa treatment or clothes shopping or some other fun activity. I think then the trip would be something to look forward to.

my surgeon's office is 4 hours away and i get free fills for 2 years so i'll be making that trip for the 2 years but i think afterwards if i need a fill i'll just find someone closer to home.

i don't know about you but my surgeon doesn't give the fills, a nurse does and since you're pretty close to goal i don't see the harm in finding someone closer. you could always go back to the 10 hr drive if you don't find someone you like!
