You can order a set of samples from www.bariatriceating.com....
..they carry high quality protein products made for bariatric patients rather than football players! And they are good-tasting....they have made such a difference n my wls journey.

Body Fortress Vanilla protein powder is sold at Wal-Mart and is one of the less expensive ones. I think it tastes very good when mixed with skim milk. Nature's Best Isopure zero carb powder and ready to drink drinks are more like sweet fruit drinks without any milk. You can get these at GNC or on the internet. I like those too. My favorite tasting drink is Worldwide Sports Nutrition Pure Protein Shake Frosty Chocolate. It comes in an 11 oz. can. I got mine on the internet from Vitamin Shoppe (look for coupon codes) I did a bunch of taste testing before the surgery so I would be ready and know what ech one tasted like. There is also a high protein pudding for the mushy stage: Instone Stallone high protein pudding. The only flavor I tasted so far is vanilla, but I though it tasted pretty good.

I just got a new Protein drink - not really a shake.

New-Whey Liquid Protein by IDS. It has 42 grams of protein in 3 oz of liquid - Orange is the flavor of choice. I have tried the fruit punch, too - but Orange is best. (The old version had 26 grams - be sure you get the one with 42)

You can either drink it like a jello shot - or do what I do and cut it with water to cut-down on the unfortunate texture. It is a little slimy and gacky sweet - but it has no fat, 2 grams of carbohydrate and all that protein. I mixed it in a litre bottle with a propel and some tap water this morning and it was fine. I sipped on it all the way to work in the car and finished it. It wasn't bad.

For the traditional protein shake, I use Six Star powder - ton's of vitamins and 20 grams of protein with a nice flavor. You can get that at Walmart.

SlimFast Low Carb

My preop was fat and carb restricted but not sugar restricted. I found that I could take a Slimfast low carb vanilla shake and add about 2 tablespoons of strawberry flavoring ( I used Hershey Strawberry milk flavoring) and it acutally tasted like a real strawberry shake. I put the shake in the freezer for about an hour before I blended it with 1/4 cup skim milk and the strawberry flavor.

Good luck!
