Hi. I am in the process of researching the Lap Band Procedure. I am a resident of the New Orleans area. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO and have not contacted them to see if the procedure will be covered. I would like to know if there is anyone that has utilized MDs in this area and if they can offer me any advice on how to go about getting qualified for this procedure. Are there any MDs that will "go out of their way" to help make this a reality for me? I am 41 with a BMI of 35-36 and have hyperlipidemia, joint/back pain, and mild hypertension. However, I am not on any medications for any of these problems at this time. Any advice provided will be great appreciated.
