We'd like to know more about you....you could do a brief profile of information you want to post in the "Introductions" forum. You'll get to know us as time goes on. We are all Citizens of BandLand and began much as you have, anxious and confused. You will get over both.

you have the same questions as most of us have weathered.....there are many forums that specifically address those issues....and with the Search mode you can find even more topics....

I did 18 months of research to prepare myself for surgery, and this site was the most help of all I had found.

You are not 'giving up' anything but an unhappy unhealthful history. You will learn new ways to deal with hunger, emotion, anxiety and all the rest. The Band is a tool you must learn to use properly for best results.

"Enjoy" by overeating is a symptom I struggled to escape most of my own life. You HAVE started your journey already. Each day is another step on your path.

Your tastes will change, and your notions of what it takes to satisfy your hunger.
"What ifs" ain't the same as "what IS".....and committing yourself to new habits IS essential. You will still enjoy food....but vastly different amounts, and probably different kinds...and 'fill me up' will not be such an issue. "Satiety" is the issue, "hunger" is the issue, "HEALTH" is the REAL issue.

Welcome to BandLand....

thanks jack what you said really made sense, but i am still going through all these emotions which i know will pass, its weird that food can take over your life and control the way you look and feel...i think thats the hardest thing to get over but i am excited in alot of ways and i cant wait to have the surgery done, i wish i had it already so maybe i wouldnt be this confused and all my expectations would be gone...i am also scared that i will never be able to go out to dinner with my boyfriend and friends again eating is really a big part of my life as dumb as that may sound ....i just wish i didnt eat so much but hopefully that will change as soon as i have the surgery....i am interested in hearing what anyone has to say to me and i wanna listen to what anyone wants to vent about
thanks again
soon to be lapbanded christine
