Cool Infection?

Hi,
I was banded on Feb. 17 in Mexico and have been using this site to learn more. I read in one of the threads that people have gotten infections with their ports and had to have them removed and replaced. How will I know If the port becomes infected?

thanks,
Jody

I've had two ports removed due to infection. Trust me, YOU'LL KNOW! The area will be hot, inflamed, red, itchy... maybe the wound will open and leak. If you're having any of these symptoms, call your doctor.

Thanks DeLarla,
I will be very watchful of this. So much to worry about, gesh. Oh well, I know it will be worth it.

Thanks

Hi Jody,

My wound was never infected but it did leak a LOT a week or two after surgery for several days. My family practitioner did not want to take any chances and extended my anti-biotics for several more days. Good luck, Teresa

LadyJoe, I don't think infection is something that happens a lot. Don't worry!!!
