Im new to this so I was wondering how bad are the hunger pains? Ive read that you have to do a liquid diet a week prior to surgery and im scared that im not going to be able to stick to even that! And then you have to have liquids for several week after? I just wanted to know that hopefully the hunger pains are not so bad after the procedure. Am I right?

I thought the exact same thing you did, but afterwards I wasn't even hungry for a few days. My niece had the lap band done 2 years ago and described it best to me a couple of days ago. It's like your mind thinks you have food in your stomach so you don't have the hunger itself, but it's actually empty so it growls.
i think we go through a huge transition after surgery. our mind still tells us we need more food. but , the reality is our body does not need it. we actually heal and detox on the liquid diet. im amazed at how little food i need to stay healthy and active. people tell me i need to eat more. but, i have more energy and dont feel all tired like i did when i ate like NORMAL people.... my sister is so tiny and i used to think she ate like a bird. she does and so do i, now i know why she is so healthy and looks so good...... it is an adjustment. just get lots of fluids and try to get the protein and vitamins you need. i take liquid vitamins... i was just so glad to be home and have the whole thing over with. looking back it all seemed so easy.... good luck.
I am 6 days into my 2 week liquid Optifast diet and doing great
The first day was hard, but after a few days you get used to it. You start seeing pounds come off and you feel good... you are geared up for the big day, which makes you even more able to do it. You can do it! I am!
"Hunger PAINS" is a grossly inaccurate description of what any Bandster feels.
Anxiety perhaps. Trepidation maybe. A little break in the continual-eating mode of over eating to which many of us have become habituated certainly.
"Pain"....no...I've had more 'pain' in preOp days trying to pursue the idea of 'eat until FULL'....THAT is a pain, along with being an error of concept about what eating for Normal Size really is.
I've had more 'pain' from the results of overeating most of my life, every DAY, trying to walk, trying to get dressed...leg/knee/ankles burning, my eyeballs threatening to blow across the street when bending over....even trying to cut my own toenails....THAT was pain....
No....I would not expect 'hunger pain' associated with Bandster life.
