I'll have to do 10 days of liquids only. I ordered 3 weeks worth of New Lifestyle system(much like medifast). I picked this one because a friend of mine said that she thought it tasted much better, she's tried several of the liquid diets.

Today I received my marching orders, so to speak. I received a letter from my surgeon's office with my appointment info. It said that today I was to start my pre-op diet which consists of protein and veggies basically. No starches or carbs. It also informed me that today would be my last day to drink carbonated beverages. It also said if I couldn't follow this diet, I would have to do a 7 day liquid diet. So, I'm thinking I can handle three weeks of low-carb. My pre-op appointment isn't until next Monday so I was a little surprised by the start of the diet today, but I'm okay with that. I feel like I'm finally working toward something. Three weeks from tomorrow! Yee-Haw! Maybe I'll loose a few pounds these next few weeks too.

Isn't it great to have a surgery date and be working to a fixed goal? I've been doing a low-cal, low-fat, no-carbonation diet now for the past 3 months, and it was hard not having a surgery date, approval, etc. But now that my surgery date is 2 weeks away, it's starting to be real, and I'm even starting to think PAST surgery now. Before everything was an effort to get to the surgery....and now I'm actuallyl thinking beyond. I can't wait for the surgery to be over! I'm in a slow weight loss period (at first the pounds came off easier!), so I'm looking forward to hopefully getting off this plateau once I'm in the post-op liquid/mushie weeks and beyond...??
It's Spring, and time for a fresh start on life!

My Dr. requires you drop 10 lbs before surgery. If you cant do it on your own, drink 4 medifast shakes and one 450 calorie meal for dinner a day.

My doc put me on Sugar Busters (low carb), beginning today. We are going on Vacation Friday and I've got to really pre-plan - no drive thru's and no overeating! (I've already had about 30 "last meals"). I'm really not a pre-planner, more of a fly by the seat of my pants girl...but am looking forward to the challenge.

My surgery date is 4/3. Saw the Doc on 3/24. He told me to enjoy my 'last supper' mode for the next two days and then crack down and lose whatever I can any way I want over the next week and a half to shrink my liver. PreOp appointment is tomorrow for the full dietary team, psych team followed by blood work and anestesiologist (SP?). Flush mode Wednesday and surgery Thursday. Im walking about a half mile a day and cutting back on intake.

My doctor only requires a liquid diet and a cleansing the day before the surgery.

When I started the process, my nurse at the bariatric center told me I needed to lose 14 lbs. I'm down 18 lbs! Now that Im approved and have met my surgeon, he wants me to lose another 5 before the surgery on April 17. I can and have been, losing weight how I want to. I'm still tracking WW points because that's what I'm used to. I have been focusing in more protein, low fat and low carb.
The day before surgery I'm suppose to do all liquids. That's about it!

My Doctor doesn't require any special diet before hand. You must make sure that your weight stays the same or lose some but do not gain ANY. The day before surgery you just eat light. Thank Goodness:biggrin2:
