wrong decision?

Hi- was justed Banded 11-5-08- having a lot of trouble getting the protein shakes down -I drink a few sips and then feel so bloated its uncomfortable- do you really get to eat reg food soon? this 3 wks on liquid is starting to get me down quite a bit and am starting to think I made the wrong decision. when are you able to eat again and can you eat things like salad ?I felt this was my last chance and I think I am failing at it-any advice?

Re: wrong decision?

I was banded on Halloween and felt like you the first couple of days. By the 5th day I started feeling a lot better. I didn't do the protein shakes but I had to do broth or jello. I am only on my full liquid diet now, but I get to start soft foods on Thursday. Good Luck!

Re: wrong decision?

It takes a little while to feel normal again. Once your swelling goes down, you will start to get hungry again. It just takes time. Don't give up yet. You only have a short time for the liquid phase compared to the lifetime of lving with the band. It will get better soon.

Re: wrong decision?

Please don't feel like you are failing. It's to soon into the process for that! Regroup and realize that this is a long journey, it's not going to be easy, but quitting is not an option. It meant enough to you to see yourself healthy that you had surgery to ensure it. Now just trust in the process. You will be able to eat regular food. I personally can eat everything I did before the surgery, just alot less of it. If the protein shake seem to thick or heavy do some thinner liquids, just make sure you drink enough so you don't get dehydrated. It isn't as much of an ending of everything, as it is the beginning. You can do it!
