I am 3 days out from getting banded, feeling pretty bad today with gas pain and incision pain. Hope that all will pass soon. My question: I take 2 small pills for blood pressure, and 1 for depression. Can I take all these meds at once like I used to, can they fit through the band? Should I take them one at a time?
Also, is tomato soup considered a full liquid?

I can't take all of my pills together like I used to...although I'm only 6 days out. Tomato soup is considered a full liquid but I added a bit more water to mine.

Are you feeling any better at 6 days out? I feel icky at this point!
I'm feeling so much better now that I'm on the full liquid diet. If you would have asked me how I was feeling yesterday I would have been cranky...but today the gas really started to move (I know...gross!) and I feel like a different person. Obviously, I'm still having some pain in the belly but I can handle this kind of pain. I went to the doctors today and walked for an hour...a very slow moving hour. You'll feel better soon!
Hi, Been 4 weeks since I had my banding. I took my pills everyday. I also am on blood pressure, antidepresent etc. but even the one night in the hospital they gave me my pills. I crushed them and put them in jello, the caps I opened. I can now take them whole if they are not to large and break them in half if they are large.
Im 7 days out and I can take my meds...1 capsule and 1 small pill...I also took pain pills instead of the liquid( it made me sick) I just had to cut them in half...I traveled 200 miles today and walked in a 2k fund raiser...I'm a little sore, but feeling fine...except my urge to CHEW and TASTE..full liquids are sooo bland...Egg Drop Soup is my favorite...My dr said I could also eats beans and such as long as they are really MASHED...so I had 1/2 order of Taco Bell pintos and cheese...YUMMMMMMMMY...and the protein was a huge boost!!!
I was banded on 4/17 and had my first fill on 5/15. I currently take meds for depression/anxiety (Lexapro) and blood pressure (Atenolol). Since they're tiny pills, I'd usually just take them at the same time, no problem. But I've already forgotten, a couple of times, not to take a big swig of water with them, resulting in a bit of an uncomfortable bubble. So now I'm trying to remember to go more slowly and just deal with taking things one at a time instead. I'd say to go slowly, test the waters, and use your best judgment based on how you feel.

Thanks! all the advise is so helpful. I kinda feel like I left the hospital and I've been on my own figuring this stuff out. I have accidently taken a big sip of water too - I'm so thirsty! I guess that how to learn what works and what doesnt' - trying it and seeing if you are uncomfortable.
You should ask your doc about your meds. I took all of my meds with me to my last pre-op appointment and went over everything with the nurses.
Lucky me -- I'm now taking no meds. Both my BP and diabetes are under control (so fast!). Though, they think I may need to go back on BP meds eventually.
