I just love the stuff! |

I recently bought the Unjury Chicken soup flavor. It just mix it with warm water for my afternoon snack and it is really good. It has 20 grams of protein and no carbs.....

I generally drink a protein drink for breakfast because I'm not a breakfast person but need to put something in me because I'm diabetic. Many days I'm too busy to stop and eat so I just drink another protein drink...possibly two if I get hungry through the afternoon. All told that's 75gm of protein. Then I eat a regular dinner.
My doc didn't see a problem with me continuing to drink protein drinks instead of meals but said if I start dropping weight faster than I want...or when I get to maintenance and don't want to lose anymore...I may have to bulk them up with something (milk, banana, etc.) to add calories.

It is also deemed effective in the management of hunger, which is occurs in varying degrees in Band patients. If you are losing, and are not plagued with terrible hunger, you should do what works for you. I do a liquid protein snack in the late afternoon also that is 0 carb, so it gets me through and also beefs up my protein totals. Best of luck!!!!

I think its as simple as this: If we could lose weight permanently with a protein shake diet we already would have and wouldnt need the band.We HAVE to learn how to eat real food for the rest of our lives. That said, I almost always have a Special K shake in the morning because i am too tight for food.
PS: Best solid proein source if youre a veg...Boca burgers. I love them and they are huge protein for minimal calories.

GNC Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60
3 scoops in 12 oz of water =
280 Calories
7 carbs
1 gr fat
60 grams of protein.....you read right....60!
I'm on my 2nd week post op and I make one shake in the morning. drink 2 - 4 each meal time...or just go in there and take a sip. Leave it in a shaker bottle in the fridge. Choc and vanilla are good. You can spice them up with flavored extracts.
The chocolate is good with some coconut and almond extract...sort of a Almond Joy taste! Good Luck.

I make a protein shake every morning because I'm too tight for food. My surgeon agreed that this is okay, as long as I'm eating regular food the rest of the time. |

There's nothing wrong with protein shakes instead of 'food' as long as the person in question is not hungry. I lost 70 pounds eating a low carb diet and doing protein shakes for breakfast and lunch...and have kept it off for 6 years.
I'll probably continue to do protein shakes at least for breakfast and play lunch by ear. If 'hungry', I'll eat solid food. If not, I'll drink a protein shake to get the needed nutrition. I always eat dinner.
I don't look to the LAP-BAND® to help me make good choices. I did that prior to the LAP-BAND®. It's a tool to help me control the 'amount' that I eat when I sit down to dinner.
Every person is unique and needs to find what works for them.
