port site pain

My port site hurts worse this morning than it ever has!!! I just woke up and this is my 3rd day postop....It was excruciating. I could barely get out of bed. Please tell me this is normal.

Hi JanaBanana! I had the same pain with my port area, and I also had a hard time getting out of bed. It just takes a while to heal. If I remember correctly it took a few weeks for the pain to subside a bit. My doc said it is was perfectly normal. Goodluck to you!

port site pain

Yes, mine felt like a baby porcupine was living just under my port site. Getting out of bed was the worst! You have to use those muscles to get yourself up and I believe that the port is sutured to that muscle....this may not be accurate, but it is what I think is true for mine. Anywho, it sure hurts!! Try pushing yourself out with your arms and let the muscles by your port relax and not do the work. It does go away eventually. Hang in there!
