Just call me Bloated Betty...

YIKES!! Majorly need some advice! I have had the WORST gas since I got banded 3 days ago. I have tried Gas-X strips, and it never went away, so I called my doctor, he said to use Milk of Magnesia because he thinks I may be constipated. I have never been constipated so I have no clue how it feels. It is terrible pain that moves thoughout my shoulders, chest, tummy, and my throat. And when I try to burp or toot, nothing happens the pressure is even worse. The MoM hasn't helped all that much. Any advice??

I was just banded Monday. I to have had terrible gas pains. I also did the gas x strips. They did not really help at all. That makes since because its not intestinal gas!! But I tried it anyway. I'm finally feeling better today so it just takes time. I hope you feel better soon.

Sounds perfectly normal.... I know....NOT what you wanted to hear! Walk walk walk... that and time seem to be the only things that relieve it. Are you still on clear liquids?

I was banded 9 days ago. Walking and rocking will help relieve the gas, and after dealing with a persistent, painful gas bubble in my neck for 3 days, I found that the vibrating cushions in a recliner or portable vibrating seat or cushion can help relieve that gas much quicker. It's funny, but it works. Keep taking the gas-x, it does absorb the gas eventually but takes time. Good luck!

I was banded exactly two weeks ago and I had alot of trouble the first two days with gas pain. I walked and walked and had my husband rub my back and even pound a little to get that gas moving. It worked really well.

Lonestar,
That is great advise besides walking. My husband had gastric bypass over 10 years ago (actually is was a revision from a problem he had with original surgery before I met him) and while he was hospitalized, not only did he have to walk around the corridors alot, repiratory therapist came to his room and pounded his back to help.

I'll remember that when I am banded on April 8.

My surgery was on March 17th and I didn't start having the gas pains until nearly a week later. But the pains got so bad I ended up in the ER, thinking I was having a heart attack! They gave me a pain shot and I was good for 2 days. I had to take some pain meds for a couple more days, but I think I've finally gotten past it. No pain in 2 days. So hopefully it will pass quickly for you also

Stand in a hot hot shower and let the water run down your neck and left shoulder. That was the only thing that made me feel a tad bit better. Walking is suppose to help alot too. I can only pace around my house so many times. It's 40 degrees and rainy here so wandering around outside is out of the question.

I was banded March 24th and I have been having the same problem. I conquered the CO2/shoulder pain gas by going for short walks around the block but if it's the other kind of has...My solution is a little different. Try drinking a cup of coffee. It seems to get everything going.

i would keep up the walking...a trip to target did it for me - i felt so much better afterwards. the gas just "came out" after that ... not sure if it was something about target or what! but keep up the walking - it helps to get the gas moving!

Just banded 3/28 and I have some gas issues as well. Feels like something is sitting on my chest and I feel very bloated. Everytime I have walked around my house today I feel a little relief. Just keep moving.

it sounds like its the gas they use to inflate the belly area to put the band in. I had it. It just takes time to dissapate(sp). and can be uncomfortable.
If you are constipated, you know it. You can't go!
