Hi,
Are you drinking the protien shakes that they recommed after surgery. I drank ensure type shakes and it brought on some pretty nasty symptoms when I rang the nurse she said it was called dumping syndrome and the sugar was causing it.
hope you get better soon.

Sounds like your nurse might have confused the banded patients with a bypass patient. I was told that since our intestines are still in one piece, and all food must travel through it all, dumping is not an issue.

It IS very common to have diarrhea following the surgery---it is referred to around here as Liquid in=Liquid out. When your body has something to work with....it will! For now it shows you are doing the right thing, and not giving your stomach a work out while it heals! It is not any fun, and many, many have admitted to times of not making it to the bathroom in time---it does go away after you progress to taking in more solid food. You just have to wait for your stomach to heal for that.

Nothing to worry about.
Sorry it is making you miserable though!

Kat
