But I was told many, many things to help me heal better and faster that I've never had explained in other surgeries. Usually I would feel like hell yet, but since I feel so good I guess I forget how short a time it's been. The protein is a big one, oxygen the whole time I was at the hospital, sticking strictly to the menus I've been given, both for weeks before, and after. Sometimes I feel like I haven't eaten anything I like in forever, but I also know that I will get past all that. I just got off the treadmill-and know that it's for health, not weight loss that I'm doing that. So in my case I just needed a reminder. I appreciate it. I'm sure in a couple of years I'll look back and laugh at myself for complaining that I haven't lost anything in 9 days!
You are so right, Mindy. My doc has me on liquids for 6 weeks for that very reason. After surgery, everything is irritated. The "shoulder" pain that everyone complains about is a result of an irritated diaphragm. The nerve there causes referred pain to the shoulder. So if anyone is having issues such as these you shouldn't be stressing your body further by giving it solid foods. The main things right now are to stay hydrated and nourished via vitamins. Hunger should be cured with low fat soups or sugar free protein drinks. It's not supposed to be fun. Good luck to everyone, I'm sure it will pay off.

"It's not supposed to be fun."

I like that! I think I'll put that up in my room for when I feel gloomy, or sorry for myself. The fun comes later when I can fit into clothes.

Im glad your docs office pushed that on you . I dont think a lot of docs do. And I dont think its fair to the patients.
It wont take YRS for you to look back on it it will probably take months.
But in all fairness it takes time. It takes time to wrap your head around " OMG this 3oz of steak is all i need ! " It really does. And with each fill and less food it takes time, practice and patients.
So you will be fine. Just Take your time right now while your healing !!!

Mindy

Well in all honestly 6 weeks is a bit much in my opinion ! But Each doc has their own orders. My doc is On the "conservative" side when it comes to things and he doesnt go that long.
After each fill I am on liquids for 6 days then 3 days of mushies 3 days of semi solids .
But you are right " its not suppose to be fun" its suppose to be for your health , longevity and for us to be around for our families !
It gets easier , it becomes less work eventually . But People cant think this is "the easy way out " or "The quick fix " its not , it does require work , And it takes time. We did not get over weight over night .

Patients Dear Grass hoppers !!
