Exclamation Unanswered: flying with the band

I'm about to fly for the first time ever and I was wondering if when I go through airport security, there are going to be problems with like the metal detectors. Im pretty sure I will beep or something but how do i let them know that im not a freakin terrorist or something. lol Has anyone flown with the band yet? Any problems I should expect?

There is no metal in the band unless you have a version much different than most. I flew 4 days after I was banded without issue.

Even if you did have something internal that caused the detector to go off, they would just pass a wand over your person and maybe ask a question or two. You can still pass through after they verify that you are not carrying anything inappropriate.

I've flown many times with the band and it's never set off the detector. I'm assuming you mean the port. You can always just tell them you have a gastric band if it comes up. The center I went to gives every bandster a card to put in their wallet, too.

I have a card as well - No issues to date. One thing to keep in mind is that air travel can cause tightness that may carry over a day or two - Be sure not to get a fill w/in a day or two of taking a flight.
