Bruising easily?

Hi everyone. I was banded three weeks ago... I just started noticing some bruises on my body. Yesterday, I had an itch on my thigh, and today it has a huge bruise larger than your fist. I noticed I was itching my thigh but never thought I would get a bruise from it. I am not eating much, well let me say I havent been eating much at all maybe 300-500 calories a day with the exception of the last 2 days ... I think I am starting to get into bandster hell... so I am trying to use my head to stop me from eating much ! lol

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that they seem to be bruising very easily. I have never had this happen... Thanks!

Re: Bruising easily?

I have posts from some people that mentioned having a blood thiner given them right before their surgery. I can't remember exactly what for, but if your surgeon gave you some, that is probably why you are bruising now. You might try a search on this site and see what you can come up with.

Personally, I wouldn't have noticed any extra bruising after surgery (except that caused by the surgery), because I bruise easily anyway.

Re: Bruising easily?

It sounds like you got heparin for your surgery. I did too and the bruises are technicolour! Even little bruises I had before the surgery got bigger and more impressive after. It will go away eventually but, from what I understand, it may take some time. I was warned not to have any unnecessary dental work for the next three months due to excessive bleeding from the heparin so obviously it has a long residence time in the body.

Yes you are right. I got heparin and something else as well... I will try to not fall and bump into many things... I am a clutz always but will try to be more careful :)
Thanks!
