"On the Border" and "Starbucks" saved me today

I am 4 days post-op and still on clear liquids. I'll be on clear liquids for 10 more days (my surgeon has his rules). But today I got a little sick of my typical broth, sugar free jello, and "Propel" meals . . .

So, DH took me to Starbucks for an iced tea. Yum. Then he ordered take-out from On the Border . . . and he ordered just the broth from their tortilla soup. It's very clear, like a chicken broth, with some spiciness to it that was JUST what I needed to get rid of this splenda-ish fruit flavor in my mouth that I'm sick of.

Guess it's time to get creative with the broths!

Any suggestions welcome!

I had my surgery on Wed and I can truly relate to the diet. Did you have any reaction to the seasonings?

Chinese restaurants have awesome soups that are broth based. By what I have been told strained egg drop and hot and sour soups are a nice change of pace.

Home made turkey bullion was a real treat for me!!!

Tried miso soup, didn't care for it.

The little bullion cubes in a jar were 'ok' for a change every few days.

Herbal tea was a real hit also the first week or so.

I was banded on June 3rd. I am also dreading this post-op diet for another 9 days! I am on protein shakes, jello, ice pops, yogurt and cream soups. I was dreading another can of creamed soup until I went to the local Health food store and bought me some great soups that look delicious, I hope the taste just as good as they look. We can get through this together.

I was banded on 6/3. My Dr advanced me to Stage 2 on Saturday. These are same things that helped me. Wonton soup broth from the local Chinese food joint, Misco soup strained, Isopure ( GNC) it has 40 g on protein. I am assuming you bought SF popcicles, best deal was at Costco $5.79. Lemonade and limeade. Hope that helps!

Better then boulion chicken base.... one teaspoon with 8 ounces of warm/hot water... NOT BOILING... and one scoop of 100% whey from GNC unflavored... It was such a treat for me after the sweet items... I had it a lunch time to break up the day....

I think I am definitely going to get some strained egg drop soup today. I would kill for a protein drink, but I'm on CLEAR liquids for a full 14 days. I can have those fruity Isopure drinks, though -- not the shakes, the drinks that look like Jones Sodas but taste nothing like them! LOL!

Isopure is saving me these days. I bought a big can of unflavored Unjury, took a whiff, and almost gagged. I tried it in some iced tea and nearly threw up! I need the protein so I bought a bunch more Isopure drinks. They're really good!
