what happens with the stomach flu?

I have been reading a lot about PB's, but what happens when you get the stomach flu? I swear I get a case of it once a year. Can you vomit correctly?

I asked my doc previous to being banded and she said yes definately you can get the flu and vomit as usual, but she wants to know about every episode that I have.

Delaware, I was banded 4/30 and have been unlucky enough to have the stomach flu twice since then. I don't know about anybody else, but I could not vomit like before. Once whatever was in my pouch was gone, I started with the dry heaves. The first time, I was sure that I would feel better soon and didn't call the doctor right away. I finally gave up and called my doctor. He called in a Rx. I keep that on hand now. I learned my lesson. At the first hint of of an unsetteled stomach, I take my Rx.

I too have only been sick once but i had the same experience.. once it was in the lower part of my stomach it was all dry heaves and nothing would come up - i suffered thru it for 24 hrs and then i was fine. however, my stomach wouldn't stop contracting the whole time and it put a great deal of pressure on my bladder - i had to stay near the bathroom!!

I had the stomach flu and tried to throw up and it didn't get past the band. It was so strange. The band blocked me from throwing up. Its happened more than once.
