Upper chest pain

Well, I am 4 months out now and have never had any problems until now. I have started to have tremendous pain right between my breast and upper chest when I eat anything. Even drink things like tea or milk. I had a fill over a month ago and didn't experience these complications until now. I haven't been able to eat much at all. As a matter of fact I have lost between 10 to 15 lbs in the last couple of weeks, which in itself is exciting, but I don't want to mess this up. I want to make sure it is done correctly.

Any suggestions from you veterans or anyone else who has had similiar complications?

Kim, you might want to call the Dr. The band could have gotten tighter.. they do sometime.. or it could have slipped.. they can do a florascope and look at the band and see if it is in the correct place... I pray all is OK... I have been having alot of reflux and they did a flora on me a couple of weeks ago, and found the band at 90 degrees and not at 45 where the dr. put it and wanted it... I asked what should I do and they did not really tell me if that is a problem.. I go back in Dec. and I guess they will see what it is doing then.

I had a smaller similar problem with chest pain several different times, which gradually resolved....I think mine was from a sort of esophageal spasm related to too big/too fast and resultant 'charley horse' effect....

better talk with your surgeon just to make sure....

cheers....

I keep thinking too that it has to do with my esophagus because it does feel like some sort of spasm. It just comes and goes. I think I will go ahead and call Spivak on Monday just to be sure because I am getting some awful headaches with these as well.

Thanks!

Heart attack fears?

The thought of chest pains scares the hell out of me due to a fear of a heart attack. How do you know that it's not a heart attack and there's no need to call 911?

great question.....with my own background and 27 years as a clinician, it still is difficult to answer....

If you have NO history of heart problems, and IF this 'chest pain' coincides with an eating incident where you may have/probably DID swallow too much too fast without chewing properly....it 'probably' is related to a banding issue.

You certainly should discuss this with your surgeon. And if you call 911 they may well ask questions to determine whether to send ambulance or not.

Heart attacks do not always present with 'chest pains' anyway. There are a lot of 'non-chest pain' onsets that can delay calling EMTs....some include arm numbness, stomach pains, 'large dog sitting on my chest', or other symptoms. Do a little research if you have more concerns on this matter.

I've had a few personal episodes where I was uncertain....but I also have no history of heart disease, although I have had a form of angina...

great question. Hope you can identify an answer for all of us.
